About Spirit of Alaska Credit Union
Founded in 1960 as Greater Fairbanks Teachers Credit Union, Spirit of Alaska Credit Union is the largest locally owned and operated credit union in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The credit union was established by four teachers at the University of Alaska Fairbanks with just thirty-two dollars to serve members dissatisfied with local banks.
Spirit of Alaska Credit Union serves Interior Alaska, with all branches and lending operations located in Fairbanks.

- Employees and students of public, private, and parochial schools, high schools, and institutions of higher learning north of the Alaska Range are eligible for membership.
- Persons retired as pensioners or annuitants from school or higher learning employment north of the Alaska Range are eligible for membership.
