Who we are

Carrot Rate (“we”, “us”) is operated by Mammoth Holdings Group, LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Carrot Rate website (the “site”), how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

You can use the site without creating an account or telling us who you are. We collect:

Approximate location. The network that delivers the site tells us the ZIP code your internet connection appears to come from. We use it to start a rate list near you and don’t store it.
Your chosen location. If you choose a place in the rate finder, we remember it in a cookie (see Cookies).
Usage information. Like any website, our servers receive the pages you request, including any search choices in the page address, along with your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. Our analytics tools also record how you use pages (see Analytics).
Information you send us. If you write to us, we receive your email address and what you tell us.

We don’t ask for your name, account numbers or other financial details.

How we use information

To show rates relevant to where you are or have chosen.
To understand which pages and features people use, and to run, secure and improve the site.
To answer your messages and correct rates you report.
To meet legal obligations.

We don’t sell information about our visitors.

Analytics

Umami counts visits and the pages viewed. It doesn’t use cookies or store your IP address.
Microsoft Clarity shows us how visitors use the site, through usage measures, heatmaps and session replays: where people click, scroll and move on a page. We use it to find and fix problems and to improve the site. Clarity collects this information with first- and third-party cookies and similar technologies, and Microsoft may use it as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Cookies

carrot_location is set when you choose a location in the rate finder. It holds the place you chose (or that you chose none) for one year, so lists start there next time.
Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies, such as _clck and _clsk on our site, and Microsoft cookies such as MUID, which Microsoft also uses across its own services, including advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and clear your location with the × in the location box. The site works without cookies; lists just won’t remember your location.

Do Not Track

There’s no common standard for browsers’ Do Not Track signals, so the site doesn’t change what it does when it receives one. Microsoft, through Clarity, may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites.

How long we keep it

Your approximate location isn’t stored. Server logs are kept only as long as needed to run and secure the site. Clarity keeps session replays for 30 days and other usage data for up to nine months. Messages you send are kept while we need them to answer you.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we have, but no website or transmission over the internet is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can use the site without choosing a location, and block or delete cookies at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it deleted. Write to us at hello@carrotrate.com and we’ll respond as the law requires.

Children

The site is meant for adults comparing financial products. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Visitors outside the United States

The site is meant for people in the United States, and information is processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We’ll post any change here with a new effective date. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on the site.
