About Carrot Rate
Carrot Rate shows the rates banks and credit unions publish, near you and nationwide, so you can find a better one.
Our mission
We want everyday savers and borrowers to get a better rate on their money. Four ideas guide how we do it.
- Every bank, not just the ones that pay. Many rate sites are paid by the banks they feature, and that payment can decide which banks appear and in what order. We track every federally insured bank and credit union, and no one pays to be listed or to move up.
- Local options count. Plenty of people want a bank they can walk into, with people they can meet. Some of the best rates are at community banks and credit unions close to home, so we show what’s near you alongside what’s online.
- You should know where your bank stands. See how your bank’s rates compare with others near you and nationwide, and whether your money could be doing more.
- Rates in the open. Every rate comes from a bank’s or credit union’s public website, with a link to the page and the day we checked it. When rates are easy to see and compare, banks have a reason to offer better ones. The Carrot Score rewards that openness: publishing rates for another product can only help a score.
What we show
- Every bank insured by the FDIC and every credit union insured by the NCUA: more than 8,500 in all. We look for rates on each one’s website.
- CD, savings and money market, auto loan and credit card rates from the more than 5,700 that publish rates we can read.
- For each rate: its conditions, the page it came from and the day we last checked it.
- For each institution: its rates, branches, deposit insurance, financial health from its regulatory filings, and its Carrot Score.
Who we are
Carrot Rate is run by Mammoth Holdings Group, LLC, based in Bend, Oregon. We aren’t a bank or a lender: we don’t take deposits, make loans or decide who qualifies.
