About Southern Energy Credit Union
Founded in 1953 as APCO Employees Credit Union, Southern Energy Credit Union is a state-chartered credit union headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.
Following mergers with Powerco Federal Credit Union in 2023 and Mutual Savings Credit Union in 2025, it serves over 90,000 members across 28 branches in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.
The credit union focuses on providing financial services and benefits to the employees of Southern Company and its affiliates.

- Employees and retirees of Alabama Power Company, Georgia Power, Mississippi Power, Southern Company Services, Southern Nuclear, or other affiliated companies of the Southern Company are eligible for membership.

- Family members related by blood or marriage to any Southern Energy Credit Union member are eligible for membership.
