About North Star Community Credit Union
Operating since 1972 and known as North Star Community Credit Union since 1997, the financial institution is a member-owned cooperative.
It evolved through mergers from Wilson’s Employee’s Credit Union to Cherokee Community Credit Union, expanding to three branch locations in Cherokee, Ida Grove, and Sheldon, Iowa.
The credit union focuses on providing financial services to the people of Northwest Iowa.

- Eligibility is open to any person who lives or works in eligible Iowa counties (Audubon, Buena Vista, Calhoun, Carroll, Cherokee, Clay, Crawford, Dickenson, Emmet, Harrison, Ida, Lyon, Monona, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Plymouth, Pocahontas, Sac, Shelby, Sioux, and Woodbury).
Family and household
- Immediate family members and household members of individuals residing in any of the 22 eligible counties are eligible for membership regardless of residence.
- Immediate family members of credit union members (by blood, marriage, or adoption) are eligible regardless of county of residence.
Cost to join
- A $5 minimum deposit into a Share Savings Account is required to establish membership and represent a share in the credit union.
